West Hollywood or WeHo as it’s known, is still the center of LA’s gay community, and is also where all the coolest new pop-ups and under-the-radar art galleries set up shop. With the world-class shopping of the Melrose District by day, and pumping bars and clubs by night there’s a youthful energy here which never stops pulsing.
Melrose Avenue ranges from the upscale homeware stores in the design district on the west, to the more colorful murals and thrift stores to the east. Along the way you’ll find designer boutiques, whether for shopping, browsing or Instagramming yourself outside. The bright pink Paul Smith wall and the leafy Fred Segal exterior are perennial favorites. And it’s worth making a detour to Melrose Place - a tucked away cluster of chic boutiques, such as Isabel Marant with its enviable succulent collection or an Oscar de la Renta atelier. All that window shopping works up an appetite so stop in to one of the many restaurants and cafes - such as the go-to dessert spot Sweet Lady Jane or the Gwyneth Paltrow-frequented Moon Juice.
