From hidden-gems to places to people-watch, from bookshops to beauty spots – here is some inspiration, celebrating the independents in our local neighborhoods around the world.
This week’s selection has been curated by Daisy Harvey, the founder of löfte, the online destination dedicated to sustainable style and brands. Taking its name from the Swedish word for promise or vow, löfte set out to “curate exciting brands with a commitment to sustainability. Effortless style with ethical beliefs.” The brand also donates 20% of their profits to eco-conscious charities – a serious promise, indeed.
“I always wanted to work in fashion, and have done so my whole career,” explains Daisy. “But while I love my industry, I've become more and more aware and concerned about its destructive nature.” Daisy understands that shopping sustainably isn’t easy, and löfte is how she plans to make it easier.
FOR FOOD
“I am obsessed with cinnamon and cardamom rolls. One of the best ones I've ever had was at Brogyllen in Gothenburg. My friend and I kept going back and trying a different pastry every day we were there! It's a very pretty little cafe by the river.”
FOR PEOPLE-WATCHING
“Finding a little bar on Rue Vieille-du Temple in Paris. Get a little glass of wine and watch all the super chic people walk past. Also a great place for window shopping and not too far from lots of vintage shops.”
FOR BOOKS
“I love finding tiny, mysterious book shops. There's a great one by Primrose Hill (Primrose Hill Books). I also love my local Chener Books. I can't walk past one without having a little peek inside.”
FOR WELLNESS
“LevelSix in Peckham has an aromatherapy class where they combine yoga with essential oils. There's something super relaxing and luxurious about combining the two and it really helps me unwind after a stressful day.”
FOR SHOPPING
“London… There's something for everyone, and so many different areas to explore. I also love that there are so many small boutiques and pop ups everywhere. My favourite way to shop is by exploring these little shops, finding special pieces and supporting smaller brands.”
