What do Appear Here want this year? Ross Bailey, founder and CEO, and Flora Johnston, Head of Brand, curate their ultimate gift list with brands, friends and collaborators from 2023.
Elton John, “Honky Tonk”, rare vinyl, £26.99
Elton John launched a few shops through Appear Here this year (is that a casual brag?!), as a result we've listened to plenty of his albums over the past 12 months, hence the hours scouring the internet for one of our favourites. Music lovers you can thank us for this inspired vintage find later.
‘Who Chairs’ pillow,George Serventi, £100
George staged his first solo exhibition through Appear Here in East London earlier this year, and his quirky slogans and tongue-in-cheek humour caught our attention. George creates wall hangings and throws from recycled materials (all by hand), and now, designs pillows too.
The Cordella Ring,YSSO, £290
Greek jewlelery brand YSSO is already beloved by the likes of Bella Hadid and Kendell Jenner but what really stole the show for us was their approach to space. YSSO donated half their space to female-led brands which rotated weekly, so if they recieved attention so did their female companions.
Rivulets Eau de Parfum,Pleasing, £135
Oh Harry...is there nothing you cannot do? Since his new perfume range came out with an exclusive pop-up at Selfridges, this scent has been a constant on our desks.
Grand Slam sweater,Paloma Wool, £130
We've been fans of Paloma Wool since its first pop-up through us in 2019. They’re known for their incredible designs, all of which are eco-conscious. Currently, they are touring the world with a moving shop which morphs to suit the city it sits within, and whilst in London their sporty-knits were an instant hit with us - and our wallets.
Paperback agenda 2024 in custard,Present and Correct, £24.50
We regularly visit this little store on Bury Place. Not only is it extremely organised and aesthetically pleasing, the objects and products are impeccably designed and oh-so useful. Case in point, this vintage style agenda book, perfect for all the scribblers out there waiting to put their ideas to paper.
Multi Colour Profumo vase,Henry Holland x Paul Smith, £245
Henry and his partner David started their ceramics business Henry Holland Studio in lockdown, now, they have multiple stockists and are the cult-brand in London for all things tablescaping. They've recently expanded their offering into homeware, and the result? Deliciousness.
Vintage Green leather arm chair,Scene by Chloe, £450
We’ve been obsessed with homeware this year due to house renovations and moves. In fact, the total hours of scouring boutiques, flea markets and independent furniture shops is probably within the hundreds. Maybe we exaggerate…but Scene by Chloe recently launched its first shop and it’s well worth a visit.
Leather loafers,G.H. Bass x Nicholas Daley, £200
Nicholas Daley has a penchant for quirky collaborations, and, growing up in Leicestershire an area known for its leather shoes, it's perhaps no surprise that one of his best - and our favourite for 2023 - was with shoe brand GH Bass. Style with jeans, or under suits to give it a more chilled edge, there's nothing these loafers can't do.
Oxford Beige rashawn long jacket,Daily Paper, £290
Since Daily Paper launched in 2012, they've had shops around the world and have become something of a cult phenomenon within the streetwear scene. Their Soho shop earlier this year had queues around the block, selling out of stock before their tenure ended. Luckily, you can still purchase clothing online, we've had our eye on this beautiful double-breasted, padded trench coat (in Daily Papers' custom spear jacquard) for some time...hint hint.
Shelby sunglasses, Linda Farrow, Mason and Sons, £550
Mason & Sons have created the world's first multi-British-brand ocularium, championing forgotten eyewear brands which they have bought and re-launched as well as newer labels. Plus, their store says 'SPEX SHOP' on the front - and that made us laugh. When walking in Soho next, be sure to stop by their little shop next to the Ham Yard hotel.
Vintage tapestry dress,Kristin Mallison, £543
Party dresses don't always have to be sparkly, and they most definitely do not need to be worn once and thrown away. Kristin Mallison creates tapestry dresses from deadstock fabric, so each dress is unique, and, they can be worn all year round - a dress not just for Christmas.
Shinrin-Yoku all over oil,Earl of East, £55
What started as a market stall has blossomed into multiple stores across London, their most recent off Regent Street. A tale of resilience and impeccable taste, Earl of East has become known for their scented candles, products and eye for great curation. Their newest oil smells divine and would make for the most perfect gift, although we've tried and failed to give both of ours away...shh don’t tell our parents.
Maxbone Ski Club jumper, George’s Dog Boutique, £46
With two dogs that trot around the office what would our gift list be if we didn't include a present for our furry friends?
